ORIMA Research's Privacy Policy

Site Visit Data

ORIMA Research does not use any 'persistent' cookies on either its main website or within its on-line surveys. While our online surveys may use 'session' cookies if these are allowed by the user's browser, these cookies only contain information relating to the current survey and expire after the user exits the web site. This type of cookie is not generally considered to be a privacy or security concern (see, for example, the Better Practice in Online Service Delivery prepared by the Australian Government Information Management Office). Our surveys will still function if session cookies are blocked by the user's browser.

Whenever you visit this website, our internet service provider makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes:

  • your server address;
  • your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc);
  • the date and time of your visit to the site;
  • the pages you accessed and documents downloaded;
  • the previous site you have visited; and
  • the type of browser you are using.

This information does not identify you personally and you remain anonymous. Analysis of this information assists with the improvement of this site.

Collection of Personal Information

ORIMA Research abides by the Australian Market & Social Research Society Code of Professional Behaviour, which protects individuals' rights to privacy. Furthermore, ORIMA Research abides by the Privacy Act 1988 (the Privacy Act), and will not do any act or engage in any practice that would breach an Information Privacy Principle (IPP) contained in section 14 of the Privacy Act. This includes, but is not confined to, cases where ORIMA Research is operating as a 'contracted service provider’ within the meaning of section 6 of the Privacy Act.

Our online surveys do not collect any information additional to that shown in the 'Site Visit Data' section above and the responses you provide to the questions asked in the survey.

We will only record your e-mail address if you send us a message. It will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and will not be added to a mailing list. We will not use your e-mail address for any other purpose and will not disclose it without your consent.

Online surveys on this site may utilise 256 bit SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption when allowed by the user's browser and internet connection. This facility provides for the secure transmission of information across the Internet. Users should be aware that without this facility there are inherent risks transmitting information across the Internet.
